What is Nutritional Therapy?

If you’ve ever felt tired for no clear reason, struggled with digestion, or sensed that your body just isn’t running as smoothly as it used to, you’re not alone. Many women I've worked with have told me they “just don’t feel quite right” - even though their test results come back “normal.” What used to work for them simply doesn't anymore,

and they don't understand why. That’s where nutritional therapy could make a real difference.

So, what exactly is nutritional therapy?

Nutritional therapy is a science-based and personalised approach to health that uses food, lifestyle, and targeted nutrients to support your body’s natural balance and function. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all advice, nutritional therapy looks at you as an individual - your history, symptoms, diet, stress levels, sleep, and more - to understand the root causes behind how you’re feeling.

Think of it as joining the dots between what’s going on in your body and how you live your life, from the food you eat, the environment you live in, to your activity levels. There are many factors we can look at together.

What happens in a consultation?

Your first consultation is all about you. We’ll take a deep dive into your health story, from your current symptoms to your medical history and daily habits. This helps me identify underlying imbalances and design a plan tailored to your needs and goals.

We’ll also review any recent blood test results you may have from your GP or specialist, as these often give valuable insights into your current health picture. Where it’s helpful, I may also suggest functional tests (such as hormone, stool, or nutrient panels) to explore things in more depth - always in collaboration with you and, where appropriate, your healthcare provider.

Follow-up sessions are where the real progress happens. We track your results, adapt your plan, and build habits that last. It’s a supportive, collaborative process that helps you take control of your health, one step at a time.

It’s not about quick fixes or fad diets

Nutritional therapy isn’t about restriction or following the latest wellness trend. It’s about working with your body, not against it. We focus on nourishing foods that support energy, digestion, hormone balance, mood, and long-term vitality - especially important as we age.

You’ll come away with a personalised plan that fits your life, not someone else’s. That might include practical changes to your meals, tips to balance blood sugar, ways to support your gut health, or supplements where appropriate.

How nutritional therapy can help

Everyone’s goals are different, but common areas I support include:

  • Fatigue and low energy

  • Digestive discomfort or bloating

  • Blood sugar balance

  • Hormonal support including thyroid issues and menopause

  • Sleep and stress resilience

  • Bone health and healthy aging

  • Weight composition and metabolism

  • Inflammation and immune balance

Nutritional therapy can be especially valuable in midlife and beyond, when our nutritional needs shift. Supporting bone strength, maintaining lean muscle, and balancing hormones all help to protect long-term vitality - so you can feel strong, stable, and confident in your body at every stage of life.
